Make a collage while exploring ‘contemplation:’ the art of looking deeply.
Collage Contemplation was first created by artist Rachel Monique Walker as a way to recreate the magic she felt in her studio when getting lost in the process of working with collage materials.
Participants are invited to experience the joy of creative play, of exploring materials, looking at them deeply and seeing what 'wants to happen' on the page or canvas. The beauty of this workshop is there's no pressure to complete a finished artwork.
We start with a visual prompt to guide the activity and participants then have the opportunity to select items from a rich library of visual materials including images from magazines, books and all kinds of collected print material.
Such fascinating collages have resulted from the Collage Contemplation workshop. Kate, a participant, said: " I loved working with found materials and seeing how things evolved."
