The Edible Forest Yarra Valley is nothing like you would have experienced before—over 850 plants that are grown either for edible or medicinal purposes, planted within a one acre forest garden that supplies edible produce every day of the year.
Be guided by one of the team at Yarra Valley Estate who lovingly created the space, learn the health benefits and reasons why individual plants were selected as you meander through the 6 different areas including tea, wetlands, bush tucker, sensory, berry & woodlands.
Ask questions along the way and an opportunity to find out what you can grow in your own home garden.

In 2015 Louise Ward, owner of Yarra Valley Estate; wished to grow seasonal vegetables, that would be incorporated into our client menus; whilst also reducing food miles. A synergy touched the sustainability values and ethos of Yarra Valley Estate. A ‘seed’ was planted in our 10 bed ‘top veggie garden’.
Soon it was evident that the little veggie garden was not able to produce enough to sustain our growing needs. Our interest in food security lead to a larger idea of building a garden that would grow into a forest, planted with edible and medicinal plants.
