Hand-forged sterling silver & bronze spinner ring

Over 10 people have attended this class

Description

This is a fun, hands-on class where you will be forging Spinner rings.
We'll be learning about shaping, filing, sizing and soldering our rings, then using texturing to give them our own unique twist!

This is a small class of no more than 5 maximum, so we all have time to enjoy the process and each others company.

Come along and bring a friend or two for a day of plenty of laughs, and the satisfaction of having made your own beautiful piece from scratch!

Can't wait to see you in class,

Cheers

Storm

BEGINNER CLASS: No experience necessary. I will teach you everything you need to know to complete this project on the day.

+ More

What you will learn

  • Learn to focus on improving your torch skills, forming and texturing skills

What you will get

  • You'll be with me from 10am to 6pm (unless you're all speedy and we finish up earlier!) so I'll have coffee and tea available for you at anytime, and when we break for lunch, there are a number of cafes and eateries nearby, or you can bring your own lunch if you perfer.
  • Take home your lovely piece and show to your friends and family!

What to bring

  • Just your enthusiasm!

What to wear

HOT CLASS We are working with fire and really hot metal, so there are a few things that we have to do before we start. 1) Long hair must be tied back, with no stragglers. Headbands are great to keep it from falling forward of your face. 2) Clothes should be of natural materials: Cotton, bamboo, hemp, wool etc. Polyester and Nylon are made from plastic- and plastic melts if something hot lands on it! Sleeves need to be rolled back out of the way. T-shirt and jeans are a great choice, with a flannel shirt if it’s a bit chilly. (I will have an apron here to cover your clothes, so you don’t have to bring your own.) 3) Just like our bodies, our feet need protecting too. Tools are sharp, things are hot, and everything falls downwards if we fumble, so closed toe shoes are a must. Boots, sneakers- anything without gaps will do. 4) Personal jewellery should have as little ‘dangle’ as possible. Bracelets and chunky rings are gorgeous, but tend to get in the way when you’re working with your hands, so are better left at home, or in your bag for the duration of the class.

Appropriate for

This is an open beginner class, available to those from years 16 and up.

It was an amazing class, with an amazing teacher who's very passionate about the jewellery art and craft, very patient, and who unselfishly guided me through the whole process. I made a very beautiful silver ring. This is the best jewellery workshop that I have ever been! Can't wait for the next class! Definitely recommend it to anyone!
