


Sewing Basics: The Mini Capsule Workshop Series
Description
Introducing our sewing workshop course, taking place over 5 weeks. Designed to introduce you to sewing and help you really practice your new skills, so you can walk away feeling confident and inspired to sew your own clothes.
Join us in West Perth, as we transform our workshop space into a sewing room. Our very own Emilie Otto will teach you sewing basics and guide you through a series of projects sharing her tips and tricks along the way.
This workshop series includes sewing machine basics, creating patterns (to use time and time again) based on your body measurements, constructing garments from paper patterns, making bias tape, adding pockets and hemming. What this workshop series includes:
- Week One: Learn how to sew! We’ll cover machine and fabric basics, guiding you through sewing your first stitch. You’ll practice on an easy scrunchie project.
- Week Two: We’ll touch on basic pattern making and create a pair of Palazzo pants
- Week Three: Pockets! Create a maxi skirt with pockets. Practise your pattern making skills to create a skirt pattern you can use time and time again.
- Week Four: Learn how to create bias tape & how to read a paper pattern
- Week Five: Boxy top sewing project
- A Sewing machine to use (optional). You are welcome to bring your own, but we have ours on hand if something should happen.
- Tea, Coffee & biccies (BYO snacks welcome)
What you need to bring:
BYO fabric Suggested amounts of quilting cotton or similar that’s at least 110cm wide. These can all be the same or a variety. You will receive a welcome pack with extra information, including fabric quantities
Workshop dates: Thursdays from 6pm - 9pm, May 15th, 22nd, 29th, June 5th & 12th
This beginners series is perfect for anyone who has always wanted to try sewing or learn sewing basics, skills learnt in this workshop can be used beyond the workshop to create your own pieces. All patterns used in this series are yours to take home and use time and time again.
