Conscious Image Making
Transforming raw creative energy into building blocks of a creative practice by focusing on intuition and confidence rather then expensive equipment and years of study.
The program aims to enhance the photography skills and knowledge of the participants to professional level, were they are able to display and market their work eﬀectively, raising the proﬁle of local regional photographers.
This will provide opportunities for the participants to supplement their income through their artwork, and provide them with increased abilities to explore their artistic skills and expand their conﬁdence, enabling them to participate in the broader arts and cultural aspects of this community.
1. How and Why - camera technics, light, shade, composition and subject - This workshop will focus on black and white digital photography and photographing deﬁned subjects. The focus is on the power of creative intention with image making and the great images aren't reliant on technical ability or camera gear.
2. Process to Print - digital enhancement, photo processing and printing - Participant will download their photos, and learn how to edit their work to find the best ones and simple ways to enhance their photos using Photoshop to achieve the quality of print they desire.
3. Top Shoots - mounting photos for exhibitions, marketing work through local outlets and multi-media - this workshop will teach the participants to mount their photographs professionally to enable them to exhibit work in local exhibitions and galleries and who to securely market their work on the internet.
Exhibition - Curate and hang photographs, organize and host a community event, prepare artist statements and learn how to talk and sell work, network and connect to the extened local community.

The VRI is a project of Traralgon Neighbourhood Learning House Inc in partnership with Reactivate Latrobe Valley Ltd.
We offer a range of classes, workshops and activities including a growing community garden, artist community gallery - Alt_Art and technical support Fridays - LV Digital Shed. A work for the dole program runs Monday - Friday at the hall and volunteers are welcome to join us in making, sharing and connecting through art, gardening, building, cleaning, cooking and using technology. We value learning by doing and we make learning fun!
Our tutors and teachers purchase materials and prepare based on your booking. So please check your calendar before you make a booking to ensure you are able to attend.
We know that sometimes things happen and if you are unable to make a class and give us plenty of notice, we may be able to fill that spot and in that instance give you a refund or transfer you to a future class. If we don't fill the booking, we won't be able to offer a refund. You can notify us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your name and the name of the class you have booked into and we will respond to you as soon as possible.
Refunds can not be given for non attendance on the day.
The VRI will notify participants of cancellation of classes at the earliest convenience via the phone number and email provided. If for any reason we need to cancel a class you will be refunded your payment.
The office hours for The VRI are Monday to Friday from 9am - 5pm.
