The inner west is where Sydney actually makes things. Marrickville, Eveleigh and Rozelle hold more working craft studios than the rest of the city combined, most of them in old industrial buildings that never got converted to apartments.
Eveleigh Works runs classes inside a heritage blacksmith shop — the oldest working forge in the southern hemisphere. Their Blacksmiths Forging Hammer class is the most-reviewed craft class in Sydney on the platform, rated 4.96 from 262 reviews, and they run everything from a first-timer's Blacksmith Introduction up to a Damascus Axe Master Class.
A few streets away, SquarePeg Studios teaches silversmithing at proper jewellery benches. Make a Ring in a Day is the entry point; Carve a Silver Ring covers wax carving and lost-wax casting, rated 4.96 from 74 reviews. The Rizzeria, also in Marrickville, is one of the few places in Sydney teaching risograph printing hands-on.
