Art Adventure Tours are inspired by an Aboriginal term "Dadirri" which can be interpreted as "Deep Listening".
We view creativity as a form of deep listening and in the tours our expert facilitator brings all her many years of experience in the visual and performing arts, art and dance therapies, art and dance teaching and creative mediation facilitation, to these events which are more "artworks" than "classes", more "art actions" in which various topics are explored in interactive creative journeys through public settings.
Whilst our facilitator is trained as an Artist, Art Therapist and Art Teacher, in the Art Adventure Tours she uses all three of these modalities or "hats" in the one event. These events are not designed to be "entertainment" nor are they necessarily designed to extend your skills in any one particular area. They are aimed to be inspiring, rejuvenating and opening. They may at times be light and fun, and at other times be deep and moving.
We invite you to explore an awarenesses and expression of your inner world, your interaction with the others in the group and your relationship with the world around us.
With a focus on the way the everyday can inspire creativity, modalities we may touch on include singing, drawing, storytelling, photography, writing/poetry, movement and perhaps even sewing!
Sometimes we will have the opportunity to experience art exhibitions in new ways inspired by simple, easy to access activities to play with.
This is for those with no artistic experience as well as artists. All welcome.
This particular tour, "Invasion Day" Art Adventure Tour, will involve a meditative journey in which we use movement, video, and a variety of other tools to explore our relationship to being "Australian" and in turn, our relationship to "country".
This tour will involve being a part of the Invasion Day Rally at Parliament House at 11am.
We will meet at 8am at the Treasury Gardens and begin our creative exploration there. This will involve some reflection and exploration as we prepare for how we will present our unique offerings to the rally. Are you the flaneur? If so, you may wish to bring your camera and or perhaps use the sketch book provided to record moments of the rally via snapshots or video. Are you a mover? If so, decide what to wear that will support that and I will assist you in devising the movement score. Are you a placard bearer? If so, you may choose to utilise the collage materials/paint I will provide to assist you to create your sign.
We will be co-creating and supporting each other to find our "thing" that calls us on this day. To form our own unique way of protesting or expressing how we perceive the place we are in. This country that is home to massacres and invasion, much of which is still under the radar and suppressed.
Following the rally we will head down to Albert Park beach and complete the tour by the bay.
There will be more ritual and meditative components to this tour than others as we go more deeply in to our relationship with the ancestors of this land, our own ancestors and the current state in which we engage with the political and personal relationship with being "Australian".
This is a unique tour not to be missed!
