Description

This workshop will run over 3 hours and we will look at how porcelain clay can be used to create pieces for unique earrings, charms and necklaces.

The Workshop is divided into 3 parts.

Part 1
A short demonstration will introduce the techniques involved in creating the shapes / beads from clay and how surface design can make a simple piece of clay look amazing. We will make a small charm from a ball of clay. You can shape it into any figurative shape that takes your fancy.

Part 2
Choose pre-made white porcelain shapes to make jewellery components from. You will then create some sketches for how you will decorate these pieces and then you will paint or glaze them. These items will need to be fired and then posted back to you, with findings, beads or charms, (as per your design) so that you can complete the jewellery item at home.

Part 3
The 3rd part of the workshop is for you to make ‘take home’ items, either ornaments, necklaces or earrings from supplied porcelain shapes, beads and charms. You will take home up to 4 wearable items of jewellery and / or ornaments. Surgical Steel earring components will be supplied. And finally, your charm will be dry enough to decorate with ceramic paint.

Part 4
Wait patiently for your items to be fired and posted back to you. It can take up to 3 weeks, depending on firing schedule.

Guild Of Objects

Vendor since 2019

In the not so distant past we were able to explore and engage in a creative space within the boundaries of our domestic environment. More recently with the advent of mass produced furnishings and readily available home decor, coupled with a trend toward apartment living and the rise of the dual income family then this space for the creative endeavour within the domestic sphere has all but disappeared.

In recognition of this the Guild of Objects is a space that supports and holds space for all to pursue, source or explore their own innate creativity. The Guild provides a space for artists, craftspeople and makers to sell their products. The Guild runs workshops in a beautiful home like environment that gives everyone the opportunity to explore their own creativity and finally the Guild organises and runs design, craft and art tours to Japan, Bali and France in order to provide a forum to explore the world through a creative lens.

The Guild is a space that honours the notion of Connection through Creativity

Connections with ones creativity, connection with ones self and connection to others through mutual pursuit.

Come and visit us at 35 Smith Street, Fitzroy 3065 Australia.
