Dying to Know - Rat Taxidermy
Description
The Rest in Pieces Team invites you to watch a Dying to Know - filmed demonstration of rat taxidermy.
Natalie Delaney-John, will share her knowledge of the dying arts so you can begin your journey into the art of taxidermy: taxis, meaning ‘arrangement’ and derma, meaning ‘skin’.
You don’t need to have any previous taxidermy experience to follow this tutorial. Nat will teach you basic rat anatomy while guiding you through the correct process of skinning, preserving and mounting your specimen.
There are different techniques used for mounting mammal and bird taxidermy. In this tutorial, you will learn the technique of using polyurethane foam and wire to mount (recreate) the body of your rat.
At the end of the session, you will have the skills to create a beautiful piece of art that is full of character. Nat will show you how to pose your rat in a standing position. You are welcome to use additional props to give your finished rat its own personality.
You also have the option to purchase the e-book, book or DIY kit.
Once the session is complete you will be invited to join the Dying to know exclusive facebook page where you can add pictures of your creations and continue to pick our brains.
