A creatively playful Sculpture workshop utilising “found” natural elements from the local coastal environment. We will be forming a personal talisman or “Tree Creature” as we are learning and engaging skills of binding, weaving and twining to be practiced throughout the workshop.
All natural materials, (weave grasses, string and twines) will be provided yet you may like to bring special “found” elements- feathers, bone, shell etc. to incorporate in your work.
*Weaving grasses ideally need to be dried 2 weeks prior. Lomandra & Dracena will be supplied soaked and ready to use.
**Red hot poker – (Kniphofia) is a welcome favourite fibre if you have supply.

- Learn about the various methods of binding, weaving and twining natural plant materials and forms to create beautiful neckpieces and weavings that smell fabulous too!
- At the end of the session you will take home your own weaving.
- You are welcome to bring small treasures that you have found in nature and lemongrass if you have any.

Sydney Art Space is the inspiration of multi-form artist and educator Christine Simpson who had the dream of creating an art’s environment that provided quality art courses, quality art tutors and diverse and interesting open forums and workshops for the larger community.
Being principal educator at The Shed Sculpture Studio for the past 12 years, with a Diploma in Education, and the completion of a Master of Fine Art and Master of Studio Art at Sydney University’s Sydney College of the Arts, Christine Simpson’s acquired arts practice-education knowledge has led to the reality of opening and delivering this quality arts teaching facility.
To create an art’s hub that gives people of all ages and stages, the ability to develop and enhance their creativity and confidence by learning real skills to begin and/or grow their arts practice in a safe, vital and fun learning environment is what Sydney Art Space is all about!
Sydney Art Space requires 48 hours notice via email prior to the start of a class or event for a full refund or transfer. Refunds and transfers will not be processed if cancellation occurs within 48 hours of the event commencing. We do not offer refunds for missed classes. There are no fees for refunds or transfers. CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS
Sydney Art Space reserves the right to amend any class, tutor or schedule. In such circumstances, we will endeavour to provide a substitute of equal standing. Should a class have to be cancelled due to insufficient enrolments, any student enrolled in that class will be contacted and an alternative class or refund arranged.
Fees are non-refundable, unless negotiated for an extended illness, and there are no transfers, refunds or make up sessions if you miss a class or if your personal circumstances change.
CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS | TERM COURSES AND TERM WORKSHOPS
If you choose to withdraw from a course or workshop prior to 7 days before its commencement, you will be charged a $25 administration fee. You may transfer the remaining value (class fee paid less administration fee) to another class or student, to be used within 12 months of the date payment was received. You will not receive a refund for the course or workshop fee paid.
If you choose to withdraw from a course or workshop within 7 days of its commencement, you will be charged 50% of the class fee. You may transfer the remaining value (half of the value of the class fee paid) to another class or student, to be used within 12 months of the date payment was received. You will not receive a refund for the class fee paid.
NO refunds transfers or credits if you withdraw or cancel on the day of the course or workshop.
NO refunds transfers or credits once the class has commenced.

If you choose to withdraw from a workshop 7 days or more before the date of the workshop, you may transfer the fee credit to another workshop within the same holiday program or the following school holiday workshop program only.
If you withdraw or cancel up to 48 hours before commencement, you will be charged a $10 administration fee. You may transfer the remaining value (workshop fee paid less administration fee) to another workshop within the same holiday program or the following school holiday workshop program. You will not receive a refund for the workshop fee paid.
