Looking for a fun eco-friendly activity? Love Mid-Century or antique furniture but don't know where to start? Up-cycling is a fabulous opportunity to give a piece of furniture a second chance and live more sustainably. 

WHAT DOES THIS COURSE COVER: Over four weeks, you'll gain an understanding of different timbers, styles and finishes as you practice some hands-on resto work in our workshop -- breathing life back into that mid-century chair, fixing joins on that shabby dresser or other items that you wish to bring along.  What you'll learn will be dependent on your specific project. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES: Gain an understanding of different timbers and finishes/Stripping, application of paint, distressing and waxing/how to approach minor repairs/even upholstery if your project requires it 

WHAT TO BRING: Furniture items (up to 3 small to medium-sized pieces only) The tutor does not supply items to experiment with. Please avoid pieces made from chipboard 

CONSUMABLES: Your teacher will guide you one your specific requirements, as it will be based on the items you intend to work on 

WHAT TO WEAR: Please wear clothing and a hat or cap that you don’t mind being splattered with paint and wear closed in shoes (no sandals)

Cancellations & Refunds

If the organiser cancels the class:

You are entitled to a transfer or credit note.

If you can't attend the class:

  • A refund can be requested 5 days before class starts. An admin fee of AU$25.00 applies.
  • A transfer can be requested anytime before the class starts. Free of charge.
  • A credit note can be requested anytime before the class starts. Free of charge.

No changes will be allowed after these times.

Kids in classes: MakerSpace classes are designed for adults. Kids aged 14-17 can book this class on the condition that an accompanying adult also participates - which means booking two places. If you have questions about kids in the workshop, please read this.
