In this hands on workshop you will learn various techniques to create your own colourful resin jewellery. You will design and create two resin bangles and two resin rings. Learn how to mix resin, add colour pigment and finish your jewellery pieces. You will have the opportunity to make two resin bangles and two resin rings that will be ready for you to take home on the day.
The first part of this workshop will include a brief explanation of how to use resin to create your own one of a kind jewellery pieces. Next is a demonstration on how to work quick and efficient with pouring resin into various jewellery moulds. In the next stage of this workshop you will be able to choose your own colour pigments and create unique designs to cast two bangles and two rings of your own choice. The final part of this workshop will involve sanding and polishing your pieces ready for you to take home.
Resin-obsessed crazy button hoarder, Jodie Dench creates individual resin buttons and handmade resin jewellery under her label, ButtonUp Designs. Each and every piece is handcrafted and designed in her Sydney home studio, combining new, pre-loved, vintage and handmade resin buttons to create unique, eclectic wearable jewellery.
It was through a lack of owning original jewellery that Jodie started to create her own designs using buttons that were passed down through the generations. Jodie’s designs have developed into one of a kind pieces and with her love of combining chaotic colours, Jodie opened her Etsy store ButtonUp Deisgns in 2010. Since then, Jodie’s love for creating statement jewellery designs has led her to facilitating private and community-based resin jewellery workshops at Sydney-based community colleges and arts centres.
ButtonUp Designs includes a variety of statement pieces using handmade resin, vintage, pre-loved and new buttons that have been collected, made and sourced from a variety of places. Ranging from sweet, subtle small and quiet pieces to loud big bright handmade resin statement designs, ButtonUp Designs include wearable necklaces, earrings, brooches, bangles and rings. ButtonUp Designs also runs one-on-one and group resin jewellery workshops suitable for anyone wanting to create their own designs.
When Jodie is not working on new ideas, you will find her uncovering hidden treasures at markets and napping with Crumpet the kittah.
The session was so much fun and Jodie is a great teacher. Nkw we all have a resin jewellery addiction!
This class was excellent. The teacher Jodie was helpful and honest, and made everything very easy to follow. It was good value for money and Jodie made sure nobody went away empty handed. It was a nice small group and very fun to make the jewellery. The only thing is parking around the work shop is difficult but it's not far from the station. I'd definitely recommend the class to anyone interested in resin!
We learnt how to make resin jewellery, it was a really fun class. Our teacher was great, the involvement from everyone was super positive and inspiring.
