Description

Have you ever wanted to crochet before but found it hard to get going? Have you never got close to a hook but want to give it go?

After this class you will go home with a Tee Yarn basket .

Tee yarn is super easy and fun. It is perfect for beginners, because it is thick and elastic and you will be using a chunky hook .

We will be practicing the basics of crocheting: holding the hook and tying a slip knot. Once we are confident we’ll start with learning how to chain, the first stitch in any crochet project, as well as single crochet, slip stitch and adding a new yarn, to make our basket.

You will be surprised to see how quickly you learn and how soon you will be crocheting awesome homewares, accessories and much more.

About Maria Jesus from Hook & Hop

Hi! I am Maria Jesus, from Seville, in the South Spain.  I cannot remember when I started to crochet and knit, It seems to me that I have done it all my live. What I know is that I owe this hobby to my grandmother and my mother. Craft was their excuse to keep me (and my siblings) quiet during the long siesta time in very hot summers

I came to Australia 3 years ago following the love of my life and I brought with me my passion for knitting and crochet. I don’t know how it happened but in 4 months I was invited to an informal knitting group that meets now and then.

When I am around and about happily crocheting away with my Tee Yarn and chunky hook people always come out to me and ask me “What are you doing?” so I tell them and ask them if they want to have a go, They always do and they just love it!

That is how Hook and Hop came to life: I started to make kits for beginners, making it easier for others to get “hooked” on crochet and knitting. I just put upcycled Tshirt-Yarn and the chunky wooden needles or a hook into a bag together with an easy and modern pattern.
