THE ART OF PICTURE FRAMING

with Daniel Denton

Whether you are a serious or amateur artist or art collector, framing your artwork is important for both protecting your hard work and presenting it to viewers beyond your bedroom or studio walls. Unfortunately framing can be a very costly exercise and so it is common for artists to take a hands on approach with very little understanding of the basic do’s and don’ts.

During the three hours of this workshop you will learn what is involved in framing your piece from a professional perspective and at a more basic level, how you can frame your things yourself at home and still end up with decent result.  Framing something can be easy but framing something well can be difficult unless you know what you’re doing. Framing design can potentially make or break your piece so learn why it’s so important and you’ll never look back.

You will learn those all important design fundamentals and have the opportunity to ask questions on how to present your unique pieces of work.

ABOUT DANIEL DENTON

Hi I’m Dan. I’m writing my Bio in first person because I just can’t make myself do it in third and I’m not paying someone else to do it. Currently I’m working as a Custom Picture Framer at The Framer Gallery in West End. I have been working as a Framer for 6 years, after getting my qualification through an apprenticeship. I have studied art formally but found that it didn’t suit my learning style so I dropped out in style. Luckily as a framer I get to look at various artworks on a daily basis and that has played a role in inspiring both my own art and my approach to presentation through framing. Beyond playing in bands as a past time I have enjoyed working with various Brisbane bands to create album and Ep covers and the occasional tour poster. Part of my job and passion is working with other artists, to both guide them in the presentation of their work and also to share and inspire the creativity. I am a passionate guy and I love my job
