Description

Master the Lino cut printmaking technique to print your own images on beautiful Japanese papers. Once learned, this versatile and accessible technique can be applied to the creation of artist’s books, textile design, poster design and limited edition prints.

This class will cover carving out your image from a Silk Cut plate, line work and cutting techniques, safety, correct inking of a plate and hand printing on Japanese papers. You will also be advised on how to hand colour your prints and introduce textures into your work.

You will take home a striking set of your own prints, your lino plate, full instructions and resource sheets and the ability to print at home using this technique!

About Amelia O'Donnell

Amelia O’Donnell is a Melbourne based artist and graduate of the Printmaking Department at RMIT University. She has been studying printmaking for 5 years and has broad experience in relief and intaglio print making techniques.

Amelia has a passion for hand printmaking techniques that are accessible and non-toxic. She would love the opportunity to share her knowledge with you.

Her self-driven practice draws influence from typography, iconography and a colour palette drawn from Eastern and Western textile design.

REFUNDS

Work-Shop requires 72 hours notice in writing prior to the class for a full refund. If you miss this window, earn some extra karma points and give your ticket to one of your buddies. The tickets are fully transferable. Email learn@work-shop.com.au to organise a refund.

CANCELLATIONS

We’ll do our darndest to run all scheduled classes, however, let’s face it… sometimes shit happens! Most of our classes must have a minimum of 5 participants before we can put them on. In the event that a class is cancelled, students will be notified via email and entitled to a full refund or credit.

This was a great introduction to linocut. It was great to come out with a plate of my own design and several prints. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and would highly recommend it.
