Watercolour Workshop @ The Stockroom

Description

In this 2 hour workshop aimed at complete beginners or those with some drawing and painting experience, you'll learn the practical skills and techniques used in watercolour painting, whether you want to use the medium for illustrative work, typography or fine art painting.

Students will learn about the specific properties of watercolour paint, and develop practical skills and techniques in paint application, brush-work, colour mixing, rendering light and shade, tonal value, and design in watercolour painting.

By the end of the class, students will have completed one of their own watercolour paintings, and be able to take their new skills to continue developing in their own style, in this particular medium.

About Nicole Black

A compulsive experimenter at heart (creatively speaking) Nicole’s early artistic endeavors were nurtured and encouraged when she commenced her out-of-school art classes as a starry-eyed eleven year old. Over her teenage years she was exposed to various materials and approaches to art making and when it came time to select a university degree, she followed her heart and enrolled in a Bachelor of Visual Arts at the University of South Australia. Once she graduated  her creative education was not quenched and she made tracks to Victoria and enrolled into a Graphic Design course at Melbourne’s CATC. Her love for sharing creative ideas has resulted in a lecturing role at the said CATC campus, which she balances with developing her freelance illustration work. Her various dapplings have resulted in an experimental approach to art-making and a love for nurturing the creative process in others.

12 December 2016 • Watercolour Workshop @ The Stockroom

We learnt water colour basics - colour blending, layering, how to use water as a tool. My favourite part was getting to play around with some still life drawing after learning some tips and tricks
