Description

“All disease begins in the gut.”  -Hippocrates

With the variety of things that wreak havoc on our digestive systems these days, it may seem impossible to try to get back in balance and restore yourself to optimal health. But it’s not just about digestive issues alone, as gastrointestinal health can be the root cause for many other health issues including brain and mental health.

However, with a bit of planning and time, it’s entirely possible to restore the full health of your gastrointestinal system, which can have major positive effects on your entire body, from mood, to memory, and more. Healing your gut allows the body to build a stronger immune system and produce the right kind of bacteria that tells your brain that it’s okay to feel good again.

In this workshop you will learn all about fermenting vegetables, with a special focus on kimchi and sauerkraut. Topics covered will include the history and biology of fermenting veggies, ingredients and variations on recipes, troubleshooting and FAQ, live demonstration, and hands-on making. Participants will leave with the confidence to safely ferment in their own homes, and will take home a jar of sauerkraut & kimchi to ferment on their own.

ABOUT LUCY GALBRAITH

I have just spent the past 4 months doing an internship with a small but thriving fermentation business in Guatemala run by an American couple.

They specialised in making fermented food products and beverages including kombuchas, water kefir, dairy ferments, sauerkrauts, pickles, condiments, wines, sourdough breads (15 products in total!) and teaching workshops to the public.

I was on the front line of production and assisted in facilitating the workshops – so I’m on top of all things fermented and my brain is full of fresh knowledge which I am super excited to share!

Lucy will help to empower people to:

  • ferment at home
  • reconnect with their gut and community for better health
  • be creative with their ferments
  • enjoy the adventure of working with live cultures
  • to share the abundance with others
