Beginner & Beyond Quilting
Perfect for absolute beginners as well as those who already have some quilting experience and want to take things further. If you’re new, you’ll learn the foundations of quilting — from cutting and piecing through to assembling and finishing a quilt — with step-by-step guidance. If you’ve quilted before, you can bring along your own project to work on with Lorena’s expert support, or choose one of her modern quilt patterns to extend your skills and try new techniques.
Join Lorena Uriarte, renowned Modern Quilter, to discover the joy of quilting.
Beginners will start with a simple 9 x 12” block achievable baby-sized quilt, building skills week by week.
More experienced quilters will have the freedom to develop their own projects while still learning tips, tricks, and refinements from Lorena’s wealth of experience.
Skill level: Complete beginners to quilting, through to more experienced sewists ready to explore new techniques. (Beginners should already know basic sewing and feel fairly confident using a machine.)

Quilting principles: the basics & beyond
How to cut fabric accurately
How to follow written instructions or adapt patterns
Construction & piecing techniques
Hand or machine quilting methods
