KAMI is launching our children’s Origami series -- a collaboration with Melbourne Origami Club. Children will get the opportunity to learn and fold different models, collecting them, and add to their collection as they join us in each session.
We will be exploring Forest theme with Origami
(this would be different models from the school holidays program)
18th Oct - Forest Theme 3pm - 430pm
What you will need :
5 pieces of 15 cm x 15cm paper each day.
The size is just a guide and you are welcome to order from our store any sizes you prefer, or you can use any square paper you can find at home for the workshop. (please make sure they have a different color on the reverse side)
Our class is designed to share the fun of folding with children. We welcome any siblings or family members to join in the fun.
We are particularly thrilled to have Dr. Michael Assis, a mathematical physicist and a great origamist, teaching the classes.
Origami: A great gift for children
IMPROVING KID'S MINDS ONE FOLD AT A TIME
Being able to transform a flat sheet of paper into a 3-dimensional form, using only hands, seems almost magical Origami is not just fun and pretty looking. Research shows that, it helps us focus, relax and build muscle memory. Origami is used as art therapy for good reasons and it is one of the best activity for children's cognitive and fine motor skills. From age 5 onwards, children are able to understand instructions, follow rules and steps, and Origami provides a suitable activity to improve those developing skills. There's potential for Children to discover, through Origami, the principles of math and geometry and take their fun to the next level.
- Day 1 - Folding up to 3 subjects from the Forest
- Sharing all the different ways to displaying their final pieces
