Description

Learn the basics of the potters wheel in our beginners throwing course. 


Completion of this course allows you to attend our twice weekly open days to continue to grow your skills.


In this process driven class you will learn about the importance of wedging and centring. Then we'll take you through throwing cylinders/bowls, and trimming. Running you through all of the steps of ceramics until you're left with a finished piece! (or a few 😁)


This is the perfect class for beginners to start their journey on the potters wheel to becoming a wheel master.


5 kilo of stoneware clay is provided for your use over the 4 weeks, more clay can be purchase as we go.


Firing and basic glazing is included for up to 8 pieces of work (size dependant).

What you will learn

  • How to wedge and prep your clay for throwing!
  • Centre, open and pull to create basic forms like cups and bowls
  • Trim and get your creations ready to bisque!

What you will get

  • 5 Kilo of stoneware clay is supplied - Extra clay can be purchased on site by the 5 kilo bag.
  • A selection of finished pieces to put pride of place in your home! or give away.
Parking Info

We're a bit hard to find right now! You're looking for the door the says NO ACCESS! I know, I know... we're working on it! But Kiln is located inside that door and up the stairs to the right.

There's usually heaps of parking outside of business hours in Buxton Square carpark. Free after 5pm weekdays, 1pm Saturday and all of Sunday.

Jamie was great & the class was super fun! Such a supportive environment to learn in as a beginner. Learned enough of the basics to start making useable cups and bowls, and been bitten by the pottery bug too!

Such an awesome 5 weeks! Learnt heaps, got humbled greatly, and fingers crossed have a few pieces fully completed to show off that hard work. The environment is awesome, Tom is a great teacher, and the space is beautiful. Highly recommend!

Cancellations & Refunds

If the organiser cancels the class:

You are entitled to a full refund.

If you can't attend the class:

You’re welcome to send someone in your place.

OR

  • A refund can be requested 1 day before class starts. An admin fee of NZ$50.00 applies.
  • A transfer can be requested 2 days before the class starts. Free of charge.
  • A credit note can be requested anytime before the class starts. Free of charge.

No changes will be allowed after these times.
