This drawing workshop is perfect is for people wanting to try out drawing regardless of skill level.
Based on tracing the image, you will learn numerous methods for rendering and representing shape, tone and form. These studies will then be combined with your chosen portrait image to create imaginative new artworks. Techniques explored will include realistic rendering with graphite (grey lead) pencils, pattern used to create tone, line to define form, and high contrast colour combinations. The skills learnt in these studies can be transferred to drawing any subject matter. So come along and surprise yourself.

Paul Hasell is an artist and award winning teacher specializing in both, creative and visual arts education at University, and the training of Visual Arts educators. He is an experienced commercial artist working in a wide range of mediums ranging from painting and photography to special effects and prosthetic make-up in film, television, print media, museums and exhibitions. His arts education focus is to teach students the skills and strategies to realise and extend their own creative ideas.

- By the end of the workshop you will have a range of drawing techniques and strategies that you can adapt for any subject matter.
- A new portrait composition based on your original image combined with your various drawing studies
- You will be provided with all the drawing materials you need during the workshop.
- Tea and coffee are provided as well as access to a fridge and microwave.
- You will need to bring an A4 black and white photocopy of a portrait you want to work from. This can be one of your own images or one from another source. Try to choose an image that includes a good range of mid tones. Avoid choosing an image with too much light or dark shadow as this makes it more difficult to transfer the information to your studies. There will be sample images to choose from at the workshop if you prefer.
No previous experience is required.

Requests for transfer of booking or full refunds must be at least 48 hours before course commencing. Booking withdrawals made within the 48hrs prior to commencement will be non-refundable, except for exceptional circumstances judged at our discretion. No refunds will be given for withdrawal after the course begins.
We understand that things happen and due to unforseen circumstances you may have to miss a session in multiple session workshop. Missed classes will not be refunded. Provisions can be made to catch up on content missed.
We reserve the right to cancel classes/courses due to minimum numbers. Notification of cancellations will be as soon as possible and usually be sent at least 48 hours beforehand. Under these circumstances a transfer or full refund will be fulfilled on our behalf
If for unforseen circumstances one class/session, from a course, needs to rescheduled/cancelled we will endeavour to seek a satisfactory resolution of another session provided or appropriate reimbursement.
By accepting the terms and finalising payment you agree to the following terms. The person who makes the booking does so on behalf of the individuals attending.
Bookings are allocated upon receipt of full payment of the listed price.
Payment card through the WeTeachMe booking set-up is through a secure payment service. We do not gather or retain any card details.
For the benefit of everyone participating in the course we ask that you attend all of the sessions, when possible, and arrive on time and prepared.

In participating in the classes you are accepting that you may be photographed as part of documentation or for advertising purposes. If you do not want to be photographed or would like a particular image removed from advertising please contact us via email.
Filming or photographing the contents of the classes is not permitted without our prior consent.
Any resources supplied as part of the courses are for your use only and are not to be reproduced unless permission is granted.
We provide the basics of tea and coffee, however we don’t cater to all the possibilities of this. You will need to provide your own additional products to satisfy any specific dietary requirements with access to a fridge and microwave.
We provide the course that is advertised. Outcomes can be directly affected by the input of the customer. If you feel that the course did not meet your expectations then please contact us via email for a possible resolution.
You will be responsible for the care of belongings brought to the workshop. We do not accept responsibility for possessions or other items brought to the workshop by you.
