Description

Our handwriting is unique to each of us. During this workshop we will experiment how rhythm, repetition and the tools we write with can add character and interest to our writing. You will be guided in this exploration by experienced calligrapher, Deirdre Hassed. No prerequisites... Just your own handwriting!

Date: Thursday 18 January 2018. Time: 10am-3pm.

Class fee: $99

Materials fee: $10 to be paid to tutor.

Materials: Please bring HB pencil, pencil sharpener, 0.5 mechanical pencil, 0.1 fineliner, a favourite writing tool (if you have one), a fountain pen (again, only if you have one).

What you will learn
  • How to free up your handwriting, adding rhythm and texture.
  • To experiment with many different writing tools (ballpoints, fountain pens, pencils, crayons, calligraphy pens, brushes etc)
  • Ideas to add interest to your writing in a journal or sketchbook.
What you will get
  • Students will take home an exercise book with numerous trials enhancing their own handwriting.
  • You will also leave with a simple handmade book showcasing different tools and techniques.

What to bring
  • HB pencil and sharpener.
  • 0.5 mechanical pencil and 0.1 fineliiner.
  • (Optional) A fountain pen or other favourite writing tool.
What to wear

Comfortable clothing for sitting and making.

Appropriate for

Any skill level, ages 15+. All you need is your own handwriting.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

If for any reason you decide that the workshop you have done or are doing does not suit you, then that is a personal decision and no refund will be given.

If Opendrawer cancels a workshop, you will be given a full refund or can choose a replacement workshop to the same value as the workshop being cancelled. You will be notified at least 2 days before the due date of the workshop if cancellation is necessary due to insufficient enrolments.

Terms & Conditions

A $10 admin fee applies to all changes of date/workshop bookings.

Cancellations made within two weeks of the booked workshop will forfeit 50% of the advertised fee - or you may find a replacement student.

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the workshop will forfeit the full advertised fee - or you may find a replacement student.

If for any reason you decide that the workshop you have done or are doing does not suit you, then that is a personal decision and no refund will be given.

A minimum of five people are required for a workshop to run. Opendrawer reserves the right to cancel a workshop if the minimum booking is not achieved. Full refunds will be given or a replacement workshop offered to the same value as the workshop being cancelled. You will be notified at least 2 days before the due date of the workshop if cancellation is deemed necessary. Unfortunately, due to the workshop timetable, no makeup classes are available.

I was thrilled to be writing with a new artist script within the first hour of this most enjoyable class/ we all took something away that we could definitely utilise in our various creative fields
