Beginners Blackwork: Squarely Check

Introduction to Blackwork - make a pin cushion

Book Now (https://weteachme.com/l/ji88Aksr)

Description

Inspired by a 17th century German sampler, this petite pin cushion is the perfect size project to introduce you to the Blackwork basics of Double Running Stitch, Back Stitch and Running Back Stitch.

There's also an opportunity to personalise some of the border design, to make it your own.

As this is a counted embroidery technique, you will be using evenweave fabric and black stranded cotton for the stitching. You'll learn about stitch journeys and working with repeating motifs.  To complete the pin cushion you'll make a fine twisted cord and mini-tassels and take your time to hand sew the piped seams.

Date: held over 3 consecutive Tuesdays - 21 & 28 August, 4 September

Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm

Class fee: $135 plus a materials fee of $25 in cash, payable to the tutor on the day. The project kit includes all the required materials.

Tutor: Chris Burton
