Your teacher:

Roz Slade is a Melbourne textile designer and maker interested in supporting society’s deep social connection to textiles and nurturing an interest in the therapeutic act of hand-making. After graduating Textile Design and Development at RMIT, where she majored in weave and printmaking, she stepped away from the ethical drift of fast fashion and textile waste, to create a modest range of high-quality products featuring sustainable methods and ethically sourced materials under the brand Be Kind Textiles.

Spending the following years exploring every craft within her reach in her own personal practice, she is sharing her results and a lifelong love of art and textiles with willing students.

We create a beautiful, warm atmosphere to make you feel at home in our cosy, plant filled studio. We encourage attendees to slow down, share stories and take the opportunity to connect with others in our community.

We are proud to support local artists, ethical businesses and community groups and we consider our impact on the earth it’s people in every aspect of our business. We are always learning and improving our processes.

Extra info: All workshop topics available as a customised private workshop with a min of x10 at our studio or at a location of your choice. We also offer sustainable event management, catering - grazing tables, lighting & floristry. We cater for all diets - vegan, lactose & gluten free.

Directions: Put Your Heart Into it Studios lives inside of Big Bang Studios nestled on the banks of the Merri Creek: 1 / 177 Beavers Road Northcote. Please drive to the very end of Beavers Road and you will come to a dead end near the Merri Creek. Come past the glass doors on the left, large black garage roller door, then past the red door. Then enter left via the bark mulched garden onto the deck and we are the second door along.

22 May 2017 • Weaving Workshop on the Merri Creek

This was the first time I have done weaving and I loved it. I attended the class as a treat for myself and am confident I will use the skills I learnt to produce more hangings for myself, family and friends. Roz the teacher was great. She was patient and talented. Laura from Put Your Heart Into It was a wonderful host and provided a delicious grazing table, wine and tea. I will definitely be booking in for more workshops in the future.

Love, love, loved the class. The teacher is very patient and demonstrates the techniques a number of times support everyone with making a beautiful piece of work. Each time I go to one of these workshops I come away feeling great. I'm not sure whether it's the friendly and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere, learning new skills, meeting nice people, the well presented food and drinks or the process of creating something to take home but I know that I will definitely be back.
