Rest in Pieces - Intermediate Taxidermy - Rabbit

Description

Rest in Pieces invites existing students from the 1-day beginner taxidermy class or participants who have completed the DIY Revival kit to join our 2-day intermediate Rabbit class.

We are absolutely thrilled to have Tull Suwannakit, artist and taxidermist from Nomadic Foe, joining the RIP Team as a special guest for this wonderful class.

Throughout the 2-day workshop Tull will lead you further down the taxidermy rabbit hole, building upon and refining your skills in skinning, fleshing, preserving, and mounting a complete specimen. You will also be guided through the traditional torso building technique of soft body wrapping and learn some of the basics of warm water maceration and beetle feeding.

At the end of the 2-day workshop, you will walk away with a gorgeous rabbit in your choice of one of three poses: standing, sitting or lying down. You will also have the option of purchasing a take home kit to practice your newly acquired skills in your own time.

As usual, the RIP team will take care of everything for you. All necessary tools along with your specimen, apron, food, drinks, and even wine will be provided on the day.

Would you like to book a take home kit?

Workshop + Kit contains the following:

- Frozen Rabbit

- Tools for skinning and mounting your specimen

- Products for cleaning, fleshing, and specimen preparation

- List of instructions used during the 2-day workshop

Please note: if you are flying in from interstate and want a take home kit, you will need to have checked in luggage as many of the sharp items will not be accepted in hand luggage.

This excellent class was professionally conducted by a very skilled, caring teacher. It was intense & demanded meticulous attention, but most enjoyable nevertheless; and the catering was terrific.

Learned the complexity & delicacy of the process. The individuality of each animal, their varied appearance is something I didn't really consider until I started learning taxidermy. The class was great, many interesting people from varied backgrounds, and the teacher was excellent

04 October 2016 • Rest in Pieces - Intermediate Taxidermy - Rabbit

It seems like each Rest in Pieces workshop I do is better than the last! The intermediate rabbit workshop was extremely well paced with plenty of time for everyone to work at their own speed and take care with their specimen. This allowed you to have a real sense of pride and achievement in your finished piece. Tull was a patient, knowledgable, engaging and approachable teacher. He made everyone feel at ease and took us through each step in the process slowly and carefully, making sure we understood what we needed to do. I walked away feeling very confident that I could replicate the process at home and am very much looking forward to using my new skills! The entire weekend was a one-of-a-kind experience that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone. Not to mention the catering, which was exquisite. As someone with a gluten intolerance, catered food is generally pretty boring - but during this weekend we experienced fine dining that catered to everyone's needs and went above and beyond my (and everyone else's) expectations. Every detail is considered with Rest in Pieces. I couldn't be happier. Thank you!
