Fancy a blue camembert? You’ll learn how to make that too. Mild and refined, or strongly veined…you can now design your own, as you’ll know exactly how to create the cheese you love to eat! Picture yourself serving your next entrée of pasta rolled in a steaming meld of creamy camembert cheese with bacon...or pillows of fresh gnocchi swimming in a blue camembert cream sauce, infused with confit garlic, crispy sage and roasted walnuts… Guests arriving without notice? Wrap a wheel of your own artisan made camembert in filo and bake ‘til crispy, flaky and golden, and listen to the crowd talk over the crackling sounds of filo mopping up the very last of that hot gooey goodness until the last morsel is gone. Based in Perth, Western Australia, The Cheese Maker runs a range of cheese making courses so you can learn everything you need to know to make everyone’s favourites from home.

In each of our courses you'll watch, learn, and get hands on practice. Most importantly you can trust that you'll be able to re-create what you learn in class time and time again, with our take home guide and follow-on cheese making products and support because it's not just a course, it's the start of your cheese making adventure with us.

The Cheese Maker runs half day and full day classes in home cheese making. No previous experience is required and, if doing multiple courses, can be done in any order. We also run corporate events and are a supplier of cheese making cultures and equipment.

  • All payments are final.
  • A $50 fee applies to course date transfers and date transfers are not permitted within 14 days of course date. You can however transfer a course to another party.
  • All courses are subject to minimum numbers (in the event that minimum course numbers are not reached, you will be notified 7 days prior to course commencement). If your course is postponed by The Cheese Maker due to insufficient numbers you will be given the option to transfer to a future course. If an appropriate date within 3 months cannot be found, you will be offered a full refund.

Gift Vouchers

If you purchase a gift voucher for a course with no course date selected, course credit will be valid for 12 months from date of purchase. If a gift voucher is purchased for a specific course date, the general course refund and transfer policy applies.

Course participants will automatically be added to our graduate email newsletter. Containing news, information and tips for your cheesemaking, this comes out 2-3 times per year and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Exception day - learnt a lot - and the cheese is still in the process of getting mouldy so the experience just keeps on giving. Morning tea was great - lovely coffee and sumptuous cakes. Lunch was a bit sparse. Afternoon tea - a let down really. Only coffee. Thats it. I thought we would get some cheeses and biscuits somewhere along the line. But NO! You asked for feedback so thought I would let you know mine.

I really enjoyed doing this course. The process of making cheese is quite relaxing so although there is a lot of steps there is plenty of time for chatting over the supplied, delicious, coffee and cake and then lunch with a wine. The course is extremely well organised with a laminated checklist supplied for making the Camembert which will be great for when you want to make some at home. Purchasing a kit on the day means you go home completely set up to make your own cheese.

My husband and I learned how easy it is to make soft cheeses, which is great because we both love cheese, especially soft cheeses. We had a great teacher and the people on the class with us were a lot of fun. It was an awesome day including a great lunch and morning tea. Enjoyed it that much that we bought a cheese making kit and also booked ourselves into the hard cheese course in Sept. Looking forward to our next course.
