Botanic Art: 1-Day Workshop (Kensington Studio)

Description

For those that can't commit to weekly classes or live to far away this is an opportunity to be introduced to Botanic Art.

This intensive 1-day course is an introduction to botanic art via pencil, watercolour. Students will begin to develop skills in outline drawing, tonal work and rendering of surfaces, basic colour work and paint application. Focus is on learning Botanic technical skills and working with watercolour. This course is for the absolute beginner and also suitable for students with prior experience, who would like to further increase their skills.

You will end the day with a finished Botanic watercolour painting, new skills and an insight in what it takes to make a Botanic Work of Art.

Students are required to bring their own materials or can purchase a starter pack or rent materials for the day.

Tuesday morning and Wednesday evening tutor Jessie Rose Ford specialises in floral and botanical art. Jessie is a professional exhibiting artist whose work has most recently received a Highly Commended Award from the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. She has a Bachelor of Illustration, specific training in botanical art, and recently completed a 6 weeks artist's residency on Flinders Island, Tasmania. Jessie has now begun running workshops so she can share her joy of art and the natural world.
