Get handy once and for all by learning how to make a designer side table in a new workshop for beginners.
The mini pallet top is made from plywood offcuts using nails (you’ll learn how to use a hammer correctly). The base is made from beautiful copper pipe and connectors and you’ll discover how to cut this precious material and get creative with the connectors.
You’ll make your very own piece of designer furniture to show off your handiwork in your home or office.
About Natasha Dickins
I design and build modern living solutions for clients, but can also fix a wonky kitchen door in 30 seconds and transform an old chair with instant style – and I can show you how too.
My first ever memory is of playing in the woodchips of my dad’s workshop. As a kid I used a mini hammer to make stuff out of timber offcuts. As a grown-up I have a workshop full of tools and a headful of handy knowledge to share.
But am I qualified to work those power tools? For sure! As craft presenter on The Living Room Series 1 I teamed up with masterbuilder and TV personality Barry DuBois to whip up practical projects.
As the former editor of Australian and New Zealand Handyman magazine I helped readers tackle that never-ending weekend to-do list and inspired radio listeners to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty.
I recently featured in Smith Journal and Renovate magazines and online journal The Bonafide Bedfellows. My Little Red Industries creations have starred in Inside Out and Square Rooms magazines and I’m a regular contributor of DIY projects to Gardening Australia.
And now I’m here to inspire you with great design ideas, motivate you to pick up tools, and give you the confidence to get handy.
So let’s DIY together!
- Make a designer side table.
- Use a hammer correctly.
- Cut copper pipe and get creative with the connectors.
- Tools for use during the workshop including pipe cutter and hammer

- Finished designer plant stand to show off to your friends & family!
