Mosaics Workshop

Art Workshop

Over 250 people have attended this class

Description

Please note: All attendees of our classes must be fully vaccinated or have a valid medical exemption. These will need to be shown to the presenter before entering the classroom. As the classes take place indoors, masks must be worn at all times. No refunds will be offered to attendees who do not meet these requirements, so please be certain before you book.

This is a 2 day workshop - Saturday from  10:00am-4:30pm, and the next day (Sunday) from 2:30-5:00pm

Come along to learn mosaic techniques and use your imagination to make an unique mosaic.

You may wish to bring an item to decorate.  If you want you can bring broken crockery, old jewellery, cutlery, shells etc. (maybe from an op- shop) to add individuality to your work. Bring along any inspiration or design ideas you may have in mind.

Alternatively, just turn up! You can be guided by Sandra in the design of your piece and you do not need to bring anything with you.

Glass mosaic tiles, terracotta dishes, pots and wall plaques are available for purchase on the day. Sandra has $7 for a 30 x30 cm marmox boards suitable for  a mosaic wall hanging which can go outdoors.

The size of the piece you will be able to work on  will depend on how quickly you work and intricacy of design, but we would recommend you start with something no bigger than 30 to 40cm in diameter. Flat surfaces are easier to mosaic than vertical.

Cost includes glue and grout and some tools to share.

In the past few years she has been concentrating on her mosaic art which is vibrant and meticulous.  She applies her art to items such as tables, wall plaques and water bowls. They are all original designs which are colourful and extremely well-crafted. In 2012 she won first prize in the Seductive Smalti exhibition for the Mosaic-Association-of-Australia-and-New-Zealand (MAANZ) at Bundoora Homestead.

20 June 2021Mosaics Workshop
This is the second time I have done the Mosaics workshop - the first was in 2008 and I have longed to do it again ever since. Last time I did two small table tops and this time a bird bath and I am delighted. Sandra is a most generous, warm skilful and patient teacher and so encouraging. That is the sort of environment in which my creativity can blossom and I think it was the same for all. I will be back - and hopefully sooner rather than later.

Sandra is patient and encouraging. It's great to come home with a finished piece. Thoroughly enjoyed the workshop.

Thanks to Sandra’s education, instruction and guidance during the mosaic weekend workshop, I was able to produce a piece of art my garden and family will treasure. It left me wanting for more. The use of tools safely was well regarded as was the provision of heating and amenities.
