Description

Come along to learn mosaic techniques and use your imagination to make an unique mosaic.

You may wish to bring an item to decorate.  If you want you can bring broken crockery, old jewellery, cutlery, shells etc. (maybe from an op- shop) to add individuality to your work. Bring along any inspiration or design ideas you may have in mind.

Alternatively, just turn up! You can be guided by Sandra in the design of your piece and you do not need to bring anything with you.

Glass mosaic tiles, terracotta dishes, pots and wall plaques are available for purchase on the day. Sandra has $7 for a 30 x30 cm marmox boards suitable for  a mosaic wall hanging which can go outdoors.

The size of the piece you will be able to work on  will depend on how quickly you work and intricacy of design, but we would recommend you start with something no bigger than 30 to 40cm in diameter. Flat surfaces are easier to mosaic than vertical.

Cost includes glue and grout and some tools to share.

Mosaics Workshop - 24 Jun 2017 10:00 AM

Last weekend I attended Sandra Bain’s mosaics workshop at BAAG. Sandra is a great teacher; patient, friendly and encouraging and I thoroughly enjoyed her workshop. I am really pleased with the Bee mosaic I produced in the space of just one and a half days. Courtesy of Sandra’s enthusiastic encouragement I plan to exhibit my piece in the upcoming ‘Creative Classroom’ exhibition at the Bolin Bolin Gallery - Thanks to the workshop and Sandra’s coaching I have been able to see that I actually do have some creative ability (!!) . Thank you Sandra for sharing your mosaic expertise's with us all in April. It was very useful to have a handout of the products used. A highlight for me was being able to finish a project in the time allocated.

The class was an excellent introduction to the art of mosaics. The teacher was clearly very knowledgeable and she was very supportive of artisans and non artisans alike. Great class to learn a new skill and create a complete project in a weekend!
