This workshop is a basic introduction to the technique of lost wax kiln casting glass. Under the guidance of talented glass artist Christine Cathie, participants will make two simple forms by using various techniques to create their own unique works. They will then work through the processes of mould making, finishing the week with firing the works in the kiln at Christine’s studio in Te Atatu.
Christine is a full time glass artist who has been casting and exhibiting her work for 19 years. Her work is recognised for its finely finished simple sculptural forms that curve and twist to bring movement to the pieces, exploring the translucent nature of the lead crystal glass. Christine exhibits throughout NZ and also has a solid international reputation.
