This term class explores abstract painting concepts and techniques utilising acrylic paints, gels and additives. Demonstrations and discussions will cover colour, form and composition as each week is filled with discovery and painting adventures.
About James Lawrence:
James Lawrence is a well-known artist and tutor who has previously exhibited and taught classes and workshops, both nationally and internationally. He holds an MFA from Otis Art Institute, Los Angeles. Central to his practice are energy, movement and colour. What emerges represents a distillation of personal expression, gestural marks and discoveries.

- • Large Canvasses – no smaller than an A2 size (at least 2 to start with – Geoff’s Emporium or The Warehouse sell reasonably priced ones – you may purchase more as the course goes on). • A range of acrylic paints – various colours • Paintbrushes in various sizes • Notebook and pen/pencil (for note taking) • Art tool Kit if you have one

The Corban Estate Arts Centre is located in Henderson, West Auckland.
We’re home to artist studios, our very own cafe, art classes for adults, youth and children, and an ever-changing programme of exhibitions and events.
Set within park-like groundsamongst historic winery buildings. Open 7 days a week, entry is free, everybody’s welcome.
o An administration fee of $20 per booking applies to all refunds.
o A FULL refund (less Admin fee) will be given if you withdraw from a class/workshop 5 working days or more before the start date
o NO refund will be given if you withdraw from a class/workshop less than 5 days before the start date.
o NO refund will be given if you withdraw after a class/workshop has commenced. However, participants are welcome to transfer to another class/workshop or accept a credit for another class/workshop taking place at a later date.
o Refunds can take up to 10 working days to process.
Some classes/workshops require a variation to these terms and conditions; please check your confirmation as the T’s and C’s variation will supersede regular terms and conditions.

ADULTS, YOUTH AND CHILDREN’S CLASSES/WORKSHOPS
Enrolments are taken on a ‘first in first served’ basis.
Payments must be made in full in order to confirm your booking. A booking confirmation and a materials list will be provided upon full payment.
CEAC reserves the right to cancel or postpone any class that does not reach a viable enrolment number. If a class is cancelled, you will be notified no less than 4 days before the start of the class, and a full refund will be given.
Please be advised that your contact details will be made available to your Workshop Tutor who may need to contact you over the duration of your course. Please notify us if you prefer that we do not do this.
