Students who have not attended the studio before are required to take part in a 1-hour safety and tool maintenance induction. Whilst we understand this may be arbitrary for some advanced students, it is important for your and others' safety.
Rent a bench at the workshop and use our equipment. Due to increasing demand on the studio benches, we have limited casual rental to Friday 10 am and 3 pm. Please call to confirm booking if you require tuition. Students are required to have completed Introduction to "Jewellery Making Skills Stage 1 " and or have demonstrated jewellery making skills to rent a bench.There is a consumable charge of $5.00(inclusive of GST) per session which is payable on the day.

We are a contemporary jewellery studio and gallery run by local jeweller Philip Noakes, who has over forty years experience in making and teaching in the industry. Philip has exhibited extensively around Australia, and makes his own work and private commisions, as well as teaching from the studio.
Contemporary Metal offers jewellers and students access to a fully equipped studio including: rolling mill, soldering and melting torches, pendant drills, vacuum casting, vulcaniser and wax injector, hydraulic press, lathe, tumbler, polisher, ultrasonic, large dapping sets and lapidary equipment.
We have benches available for hire on a casual, weekly or ongoing basis.
