The world of chocolate is truly rich in variety, from couvertures and pralines to truffles and bars, all with different percentages, flavour profiles, and origins. Cacao for chocolate making is sourced from all over the world and undergoes various levels of processing to create the delicious treats we know.

 Enjoy some of these delights while sharpening your chocolate education, as Master Chocolatier Arno Backes gives you an introduction to chocolate making and a guided chocolate tasting in his fun and informative style.

 After your tasting session, with a sense of where our favourite treat comes from and how it comes together, get your hands chocolate-dirty and join Arno in making a signature dark chocolate truffle.

Gânache Chocolate offers a unique European chocolate experience for those looking for that something special in Melbourne.

Both stores boast stunning displays of beautifully handcrafted pralines made with the finest couverture chocolate as well as an extensive product range including decadent chocolate bars, gift wrapped chocolate figures and speciality hot chocolate.

The Gânache Patisserie section showcases Arno’s superb macarons and delicious French style patisserie.

All chocolates and patisserie are created with passion by Master Chocolatier Arno Backes and his team of Pastry chefs and Chocolatiers, in the kitchens above the chocolate lounge in South Yarra.

Payment Policy

Classes at Gânache frequently become fully booked, so we require full payment to be made at the time of booking to secure your place. Payment can be made conveniently online with credit card or at the store in cash, EFT or credit card or even via credit card over the phone. Unfortunately, we can't hold places without payment

On occasion, Gânache is forced to cancel a class due to low booking numbers. We really don't like to do this as we love to teach and play with chocolate, but if we don't cover our costs we can't run the class. In instances where Gânache must cancel a class, enrolled participants will be notified 24 hours prior to the scheduled class and will be rebooked into the next available class, or a refund as required.

Refund Policy

Gânache Chocolate requires 48 hours notice via email prior to the start of a class or event for a full refund or transfer.  Refunds and transfers will not be processed if cancellation occurs within 48 hours of the event commencing. We do not offer refunds for missed classes. There are no fees for refunds or transfers. For cancellations prior to the 48 hour cut off, email Gânache Chocolate to organise a refund or transfer

Anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at Gânache Chocolate or organised by Gânache Chocolate must agree to these terms and conditions.


I agree to take on full responsibility for any damages, injuries and for physical and/or personal property, which I might incur whilst participating in classes and/or events organised by Gânache Chocolate.


I agree to give Gânache Chocolate unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at Gânache Chocolate classes and events or on Gânache Chocolate's premises. (For use of Gânache Chocolate marketing materials).


Gânache Chocolate requires 48 hours notice in writing prior to the class for a full refund or transfer. 


In the event that a class is cancelled, students will be notified via text message or email and entitled to a full refund or credit.

My partner and I were celebrating our anniversary and loved how we could taste chocolate together and make a batch of chocolate to take home. Loved the whole experience and would recommend it to everyone.
