Frequently Asked Questions

  • Bourke Street Bakery uses a 26-year-old sourdough starter in their three-hour Sourdough Master Class. This aged starter is a key component of their bread-making process, and students work directly with it to learn authentic sourdough techniques including mixing, shaping, and fermentation methods they can replicate at home.

  • A maximum of 4 children per booking are permitted at Brasserie Bread's Saturday baking classes. Children must be a minimum of 5 years old, and proof of age may be requested prior to entering the class. Group bookings and birthday parties are not permitted.

  • The Hands On Gelato Making Class at MESSINA accommodates a maximum of 14 people per class. The class runs from 9am to 12pm approximately, costs $250 per person, and participants learn to create and pasteurize their own gelato or sorbet flavor using a Thermomix, plus learn professional plating techniques.

  • In Breaducation's 3-hour Breads of France class, you will produce traditional crusty Baguettes, pull-apart Epi breads, crispy Ficelle, leaf-shaped Fougasse, and seeded Petit Pain rolls. You'll learn hand-mixing techniques, artisan shaping methods, and how to create proper crust and crumb structure.

  • Each child in Brasserie Bread's Saturday baking classes learns to bake at least two fresh baked bread items to take home. The classes run while parents can enjoy Allpress coffee and brunch at the Bakery's Cafe.

  • Both The Art of Sourdough and The Home Baker Workshop classes are for adults aged 18 years and older. Teenagers may attend if accompanied by a paying adult attendee. Both classes are suited for beginner to intermediate level bakers and include hands-on techniques plus take-home recipes.
