Guest Artist Workshop - Emily May (AKA The Nonsense Maker)
Join us for this very special guest artist workshop led by Emily May, the artist behind Melbourne based label The Nonsense Maker!
Emily May is a Melbourne based illustrator working under her brand name The Nonsense Maker. The Nonsense Maker sells a whimsical collection of bold and cheeky greeting cards and art prints sold in over 100 stores across Australia. Her illustrations are created from highly detailed fine-liner drawings, reminiscent of old etching techniques. They are then digitally coloured and enhanced to create a unique fusion of old and new.
In this work shop we will be learning how to draw with fine liner pens using cross-hatching techniques. We'll use these skills to create greeting cards with little worlds that live on top of cupcakes, using our imaginations to guide our illustrations.

Gloworm Studios is a unique art school located in the heart of Fairfield. Led by professional illustrator Marianna Marx, our programs specialise in painting, drawing and illustration. Gloworm Studios is a warm and nurturing environment where artists both young and young at heart are invited to immerse themselves in their creativity and imagination.
Marianna Marx has taught art alongside her illustration career for the past 10 years. Her experiences include working in the education department at the De Young Museum in San Francisco, an artist residency at Caulfield Grammar School, one on one art tutoring for children and adults, after school art classes, corporate workshops and working alongside artists with intellectual disabilities. Marianna has taken insight from each of these experiences to create an art school of her own where she can share her love for creative expression with others in her local community.
