Textile Coiled Basket with Zenzero Design

make your own colourful coiled rope basket

Sun, 26 Sep 10:00AM (AEST)
2 hours 30 minutes
Over 50 people have attended this class

Description

Join Karen to learn the technique of coiled rope baskets.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of constructing a coiled basket using cotton rope, fabric and hemp cord.

Participants will have 2.5 hours to complete their basket.  Some attendees may not complete the basket within the allocated time but will be able to take home the additional knowledge and materials to finish the basket, or sit in our cafe space and finish it off there.

Attendees are welcome to bring along their own pre-cut recycled fabric strips (preferably 3cm W x 50-75cm L cotton or poly/cotton).  The tutor will have a variety of pre-cut fabric strips to choose from on the day.

As this workshop focuses on up-cycling fabrics we recommend getting into your linen or fabric stash or hitting up a second hand shop if you wish to bring your own.

Suitable for: Participants 12+.  Participants 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note, the number of tickets that you can choose from to purchase reflects the number of total tickets still available, if you cannot select multiple tickets it means there is only 1 ticket/space left in this workshop.

Cancellation Policy: As we purchase materials based on the number of attendees for each workshop we are unable to refund tickets. We do welcome you to pass your ticket to a friend to come in your place. Please email us if you do wish to change the name on the ticket.

If you are unwell in the lead up to the workshop please notify us. We will offer a credit or transfer to the same workshop at a later date.

Always enjoy the classes/workshop at Hands on Brisbane. Well organised, small classes and a good variety of crafts. Bonus to have the Cafe next door, and lovely to be coming into the Botanic Gardens.

Fabulous class. Karen took the time to get to know everyone and regularly check on how we were each going to provide individual coaching. It was also great to be able to go at your own pace. I loved being able to purchase additional materials at the end of the class too! I will be making so many!
