Rag Rugs with The Sewloist

Make a rug from old rags, sheets & linens

Over 10 people have attended this class

Description

Join Naomi of The Sewloist to learn the technique of making rugs from up-cycled fabric and remnants.

Using only a safety pin and strips of fabric we will weave together a rug.

Making rag rugs is a great way to up-cycle bed linen, old clothing, and to make use of your growing fabric stash.

We will provide a selection of fabrics to work with on the day however you are welcome to bring your own lightweight woven cottons that can be torn into strips to make your rag rug. Old sheets and doona covers and cotton fabrics are suitable.

This workshop gives you the starting point and technique for making rag rugs, however the process of making your own rug will take more than 2 hours.  This means that you will be taking your project home with you to complete.

Suitable for: Participants 12+.  Participants 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note, the number of tickets that you can choose from to purchase reflects the number of total tickets still available, if you cannot select multiple tickets it means there is only 1 ticket/space left in this workshop.

Cancellation Policy: As we purchase materials based on the number of attendees for each workshop we are unable to refund tickets. We do welcome you to pass your ticket to a friend to come in your place. Please email us if you do wish to change the name on the ticket.

If you are unwell (cough, runny nose, fever) in the lead up to the workshop please notify us. We will offer a credit or transfer to the same workshop at a later date. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS.

28 February 2021Rag Rugs with The Sewloist
The Rag Rug making workshop with Naomi Huntsman is excellent. We had a small group and lots of individual attention. Plenty of lovely recycled fabrics were provided. Step by step instructions that were clear and easy to follow. Perfect for a beginner or anyone interested in art, craft, recycling or history, because Rag Rugs is a 200 year old craft. Naomi is an excellent teacher and she makes sure everyone in the group acquires the skill of rug making.

Lovely workshop with Naomi (The Sewloist) with a variety of materials on hand to start making your own rag rug. Venue was nice and relaxing, and our small group allowed Naomi to give us lots of personal attention when our stitches started getting wonky!
