Japanese Bookbinding  

In this 2 hour workshop with Paperazzi Design studios resident paper artist, Michelle Lackenby, you’ll learn a variety of traditional binding stitch techniques and patterns and create your very own books to take home.

The techniques covered include simple Japanese stitch, Japanese stab binding, Hemp stitch and tortoise shell binding. Each technique builds on the last and all notes and materials will be supplied so you can create your own set of softcover books to take home. 

Michelle will demonstrate the art of Suminagashi, also known as Japanese Marbling, guiding you through the process step-by-step, before creating your own beautiful marbled papers.

Come along and have a fun afternoon creating your very own handmade books combining Japanese binding and paper marbling techniques!. No experience necessary and all materials will be provided.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Kami requires 48 hours notice via email prior to the start of a class or event for a full refund or transfer.  Refunds and transfers will not be processed if cancellation occurs within 48 hours of the event commencing. We do not offer refunds for missed classes. There are no fees for refunds or transfers. For cancellations prior to the 48 hour cut off, email Kami to organise a refund or transfer

Terms & Conditions

Anyone partaking in any classes or coming to any events at Kami or organised by Kami must agree to these terms and conditions.

1.) LIABILITY WAIVER

I agree to take on full responsibility for any damages, injuries and for physical and/or personal property, which I might incur whilst participating in classes and/or events organised by Kami .

2.) PHOTO & VIDEO

I agree to give Kami unrestricted publishing rights for any photographs or videos taken at Kami classes and events or on Kami 's premises. (For use of Kami marketing materials).

3.) REFUNDS

Kami requires 48 hours notice in writing prior to the class for a full refund or transfer. 

4.) CANCELLATIONS

In the event that a class is cancelled, students will be notified via text message or email and entitled to a full refund or credit.

Relaxed class learning a mindful, ancient craft using beautiful, textured paper. Teacher was knowledgeable and passionate about her work, teaching at a pace flexible to the small class. Beautiful setting of the class in a paper store added to the feeling of being connected with the community.
