We are excited to announce Junko Azukawa's Hanko, or Seal Carving, Workshop at Kami Paper. This will be an exciting opportunity to learn Hanko from one of our most popular artist whose work with Sumi E has delighted many students.

Workshop Description:

Junko Azukawa's Japanese Seal Carving Workshop

A Hanko seal is typically made of stone, wood or ivory and serves as proof or certification when pressed on a vessel, utensil, painting, document or letter. Seals have enjoyed development and usage in both Eastern and Western cultures, but it was introduced into Japan along with a variety of Chinese cultures through Japanese envoys in the Asuka Period.

In this workshop participants will design and carve and take home their own Hanko seals!

One blank carving seal stone is included in cost of workshop

A great introduction to seal carving in stone. It is so simple to carve and the resultant seal is just amazing! Highly recommend this workshop.
