Description

Printmaking is an exciting traditional and contemporary craft, it offers the practitioner a versatile skillset. Do you want to learn the different techniques and processes of printmaking?


This four-week course will give you the skills, knowledge and concepts of four printmaking processes. Paricipants will learn printmaking techniques from traditional to experimental perspectives, with an emphasis on sustainable practices.



Weekly three-hour workshops will explore these four techniques in-depth:


  • Screenprinting
  • Relief printing 
  • Drypoint
  • Monotypes


This will be an exciting, action filled course led by award winning artist Joel Gailer (PhD), exploring the many facets of the printmaking discipline. Each subject will explore both technique and concept, as well as, DIY techniques for artists who do not have access to printmaking facilities.


This course is for the beginner or intermediate artist looking to expand their skill set and develop a sustainable print practice. Classes will be very small, only four places per session.

There are multiple car parks on site, as well as, free all day parking at the end of the street.


What to bring
  • Paper and inks can be purchased at the workshops or from other sources. ALL OTHER EQUIPMENT SUPPLIED.
What to wear

Participants may bring an art smock or printmaking apron

Cozens Street studio is based in Brunswick, Melbourne, Australia. We are a community-based group of artists and educators. 

We aim to provide practical and technical knowledge for the DIY creative artist and inventor. We back this up with historical and contemporary theory and diverse knowledges.

The studio setting is light filled with dedicated space for specific art disciplines. We are close to multi-cultural Sydney Rd with all its cafe's, restaurants, bars and art spaces. Light refreshments will be offered with every course, including snacks and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Cozens Street studio requires 48 hours notice via email prior to the start of a class or event for a full refund or transfer.  Refunds and transfers will not be processed if cancellation occurs within 48 hours of the event commencing. We do not offer refunds for missed classes. There are no fees for refunds or transfers. For cancellations prior to the 48 hour cut off, email Cozens Street studio to organise a refund or transfer
