Description

Have you been curious to paint with watercolour but don’t know where to start?

Join Nicole Black as she walks you through introductory techniques and approaches to watercolour painting. Once the basics have been covered, we will look to create a watercolour study of an indoor plant. There will be a discussion around creating an interesting composition for your work, building up layers, and developing an enticing colour palette for your final artwork. There will also be the opportunity to experiment with additional mediums!

You will walk away with an array of tips and tricks, advice on art materials to invest in to start your own watercolour practice and a new-found confidence in painting!

This class is suitable for beginners or those looking to shake up their practice! Kids and teens are welcome in this class.

14 March 2020 • Introduction to Watercolour Painting

Intro to Watercolour painting was fun and engaging. The 3 hours just flew by but we achieved so much in the class from learning how to get effects with different colours, shapes and mediums; to coming up with a finished painting by the end. The teacher was effective, friendly and encouraging. Great day and finished product, plus new skills I can apply at home.

Fantastic intro to a finnicky medium, with expert guidance and warm words of a support. Nicole was a wonderful, engaging and encouraging instructor. Thank you for a great experience and sparking/reacquainting me with the latent creative vibes within! Looking forward to purchasing my own set of watercolours and embarking upon my own private creative journey at home! Keep up the awesome service.

What a total joy this class was - I would do it again in a heartbeat!! I have no experience with watercolour, and it was at least 12years since I picked up an artistic instrument, but Nikki was welcoming and kind and made me feel at ease immediately. The space at Think Thornbury is gorgeous, open and light filled - which made for a perfect morning of learning some great techniques! Thank you!
