ABOUT CALI ANDERSEN

I have been bookbinding for 10 years, I have completed multiple courses on the craft of book binding, both here and overseas; worked with leading Australian and international practitioners; and established Andersen’s Bindery in Great Buckingham Street, Redfern. I feel incredibly lucky to have discovered book binding as my vocation in life.

There’s flimsiness and disposability to contemporary mass-produced books, whereas a handmade book is a uniquely beautiful object made to last. For me a handcrafted book means that intricate care, creativity and enjoyment have gone into every stage of its production. I particularly love that each book I make has its own particular look, feel and smell.
