This talk and demonstration, by Natalie Delany-John of Rest in Pieces offers the opportunity to gain unique insights and get up close to this age-old practice that remains macabre to some, and yet strangely beautiful to others.
Natalie will speak about the practice and history of taxidermy in this illustrated talk followed by a skinning demonstration. This workshop is not for the squeamish, but will fascinate those with a healthy curiosity and an open mind.
R.I.P Revival kits will be available for purchase on the night so that you can attempt a mouse in your own time.
Natalie Delaney-John started her taxidermy journey after she convinced one of Australia’s leading taxidermists to take her in as an apprentice. On the first day of Natalie’s mentorship he looked her up and down and declared: “You won’t last a second.” Three years later she is out on her own and the proud founder of Rest in Pieces, which conducts introductory taxidermy courses in Melbourne. The classes have been sold out every month and have been featured in The Age, RRR, the ABC and SBS.
2016 will see the launch of the R.I.P Revival kits, a mentorship in Canada with the world’s leading taxidermist and the launch of her first major exhibition.

I loved seeing a new side to taxidermy. It was great to find out a bit about the history and see the skinning demo. Nat was awesome and really engaged the audience.
I had a great time at the Brisbane talk and skinning demo. It was very informative and Nat is a very engaging speaker! I certainly have a new found respect for the art of taxidermy.
The Art of Taxidermy was a wonderful talk and a brilliant introduction to the workshop, which I did with the same company, on the Sunday. This talk gave you the history of taxidermy right up to today, with lots of examples. The skinning demonstration was a great part of the talk and let you see what was in involved. The crew from Rest In Pieces were professional and highly informative, while making it loads of fun and and very engaging at the same time. This was one of the best talks and then workshops I have done and will certainly be doing more with them...they have got me hooked now. Thanks Rest In Pieces.
