About Rhesida Davies from Hina Leis

A mum, a Hawaiian Hula and Ori Tahiti dance student, a creative and a lover of Polynesian culture. All of these things led me to making Polynesian style flower crowns.

When my Samoan Tokelauan partners Aunty had a 60th birthday celebration upcoming we had organised to perform a traditional Tokelauan Fatele (dance).

Some of the other aunties expressed they would like to have pale (lei) to wear during the performance, so I decided I’d give it a shot. After late nights, frustration, multiple binned efforts and sore hands from braiding I had made 11 female and 3 mens. I was asked by more and more people to make them and here I am now, through lots of trial and error extending my knowledge to you!
