During this 3 hour workshop you will learn the basics of weaving on a frame loom.
From warping your loom, to basic tabby weaving as well as some simple weaving techniques such as creating shapes, soumak and a simple stitch to finish off your weave to give it a more “professional” look. You will then be shown two simple ways to take your weave off the loom to hang.
You will be provided with everything to get you started on your weaving journey: a small beginner’s loom, a weaving needle, warping thread - all of which you can take home! There will also be a selection of yarn and fibres for you to use on the day.
If you have any yarn, fabric scraps or fibre that you would like to incorporate into your weaving- bring it along.
ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
I have dabbled with different crafts for the last 20 years- sewing, knitting, and crochet and I also did a Costume Design Course in 2006, but my weaving journey only started a mere 10months ago. I attended my first workshop in February this year and was struck pretty hard with “Weaver Fever”. I have since attended two further weaving workshops and have slowly built up my skills to where I am today- hosting my own weaving workshop!
Weaving has opened up a whole new world for me of creativity, discovering yarn and different fibres and the best part- meeting new people and creating new friendships over a mutual love (or obsession) about everything to do with weaving!
