Have you ever wondered if you could paint or draw? Are you curious about what you could create?
Learn how to use pastels to create beautiful art; in this 3 hour tutored workshop we’ll cover some colour theory, blending techniques and loads of other tips and tricks as well as sketching and hands-on pastel painting. You’ll learn how to mix colours on paper, how to paint light and shadow using complementary colours and the many ways you can apply pastel to achieve the lightest of touches all the way through to thick heavy applications.
Pastels are a beautiful medium to paint or draw with (it’s the only medium you can do both). The colours range from deep earthy reds and greens to luminous yellows and brights and everything in between. The texture of pastels, combined with textured paper gives your art a wonderful depth that can’t be achieved with other mediums. You don’t need brushes or any other tools because it’s all in the movement of your hand.
No experience is necessary, just a desire to discover your inner artist and have some fun with pastels.
ABOUT JEANNE COTTER
Jeanne has been in the arts arena all her life, in one way or another, from dressing mannequins in Myer to calligraphy and graphic design and most recently pastel art. Like most people Jeanne was arty at school but as soon as she went to work, the arty side was left behind in the pursuit of adult-hood, and mother-hood and business… as you do!
When she was in her 40s Jeanne decided to try a pastel art class and she’s been hooked ever since, going to weekly classes on the Sunshine Coast and traveling to Italy on two art tours to paint en plein air before moving to Brisbane in 2014.
Today Jeanne teaches pastel art classes for beginners and she loves nothing more than helping others to discover their inner artist and coach them through the journey of creating beautiful art. Her motto is “Don’t die with the art sill inside you”.
