From Melbourne to Mexico and everywhere in between, Vexta’s bold artworks have become an iconic part of the global street art landscape.
Known for her use of vivid colour, geometric shards and precise stencil work, Vexta constantly moves her practice between the studio and the street. Currently based in Brooklyn, NY, Vexta has returned to Melbourne for a short time only - join her for an exclusive workshop experience and view the world through her psychedelic kaleidoscope!
Part discussion, part hands-on art making - this 5 hour workshop will explore the importance of developing your own personal symbology and how it can be used to inspire and inform your creative process.
Discussing themes such as science, cosmology, mythology, life/death and the feminine, Vexta will share some of her own personal symbology and how she uses it to uncover common threads that bind our experience. Through a series of activities you’ll explore ways to translate complex themes into art that conveys genuine meaning.
The second half of the workshop will focus on developing practical skills. Topics including painting, stencil art & aerosol techniques, before progressing on to creating your own original mixed media artwork. Vexta will offer individual guidance throughout, sharing tips and insights into her process. You’ll also have the chance to put your new skills to the test and contribute to a large scale collaborative mural exploring a theme chosen by the class.
Whether you’re a practising artist looking to push your boundaries, or simply a huge fan of Vexta’s art, don’t miss this amazing opportunity to learn from one of Australia's leading street artists.
Vexta is a self-taught artist. Born in Sydney, Australia, she learnt her craft painting on the streets in Melbourne and is currently based in Brooklyn, New York. A nomad of our modern times, Vexta spends most of the year traveling and painting, with her bold artworks found everywhere from Melbourne to Mexico. Viewing the world through her psychedelic kaleidoscope, Vexta reinterprets the sacred elements within science, cosmology, mythology, life/death and the feminine navigating these themes through the common threads that bind our experiences. Juxtaposing animals and human forms amid her symbolic, geometric shards, she provides an insight into our fundamental engagement with the human condition.
She has exhibited extensively across Australia, Europe and North America, including The National Gallery of Australia, Saatchi Gallery in London and Urban Nation Museum in Berlin. She has her work held in numerous public, academic and private collections globally and had her work included in a variety of academic papers.

Learning about Vextas inspiration and motivation to create stunning artwork really helped me understand some of the techniques I can use to develop my own art. Learning how to stencil and use spray paint in a variety of ways from an expert was an awesome experience.
Average. Good to hear from Vexta but then otherwise it was a spray painting class without much hands on interaction or teaching.
Great class Fantasic to talk with Ivette and gain some new skills
