Revitalise Your Oil Paintings with Maxwell Wilks

A full day workshop with master artist

Revitalise and bring back the passion to your oil paintings with a workshop conducted by one of the masters in the medium. In this exciting workshop Max will explain his approach and answer all your questions. He will demonstrate how his techniques translate to the canvas and will guide all the participants to create their own painting using the principles and methods he has explained and shown. 

Max has won many prizes for his work over a many years, has authored definitive books and DVD’s, is a member of the Twenty Melbourne Painters Society, has taught widely and is recognised as a master artist. 

Max has chosen to follow the representational style of painting because of his strong emotional response to the effects of light, colour, atmosphere, and form. In the tradition of Australian Landscape Artists, he usually paint directly from the subject. His objective for each painting is to be able to observe, select and clarify the subject to a simple set of tonal shapes, combined with colour and draughtsmanship to capture the mood and sensitivity of the subject.

Materials For Maxwell Wilks Oil Workshop

Paints - Suggested Colours
Veridian, cad yellow, cad orange, cad red or bright red, Australian red gold, permanent rose, cobalt blue, french ultramarine blue, turquoise, titanium white, alizarin. Students should bring colours they have and are used to using.

Canvas
Do not buy cheap cotton stretched canvas. Seniors art supplies have good canvas boards - not expensive - 16x20 inches 12x16 inches. Bring two oil based or acrylic boards or canvas if preferred.
Pallet - wood is good
Brushes 

Preferably long hair square
Medium 

Odourless Turpentine or medium from an Art Shop - eg Art Spectrum medium.
