MARAMA MATARIKI POUNAMU
Description
In celebration of Matariki, come and enjoy a full day creating a Marama Pounamu in this tikanga based, contemporary workshop. Participants will be introduced to a new skill set using grinders, drills, wet and dry sanding techniques, and polishing tools while also learning lashing and binding techniques used to finish and wear this taonga.
Maha Tomo is of Waikato Tainui, Rangitane, Ngati Kauwhata, Ngati Toa and Ngai Tahu descent and his hapu in Te Wai Pounamu is Ngati Huirapa of Arowhenua in Temuka. Maha has a bachelor’s degree in creative arts and a post-graduate diploma in Cross-Cultural Supervision and is the Director at Aotearoa Bone and Stone Carving.

The Corban Estate Arts Centre is located in Henderson, West Auckland.
We’re home to artist studios, our very own cafe, art classes for adults, youth and children, and an ever-changing programme of exhibitions and events.
Set within park-like grounds amongst historic winery buildings. Open Monday to Saturday, entry is free, everybody’s welcome.

- A deposit is required to secure your place and payment must be made in full to confirm your booking.
- Cancellation by Corban Estate Arts Centre entitles the participant to a FULL REFUND.
- Cancellation by participant up until 7 days before the workshop commences results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 10% admin & booking fee.
- Cancellation by participant within 7 days of the workshop commencement date results in a transfer where possible OR full credit to be used within 6 months of cancellation date OR a full refund MINUS a 30% admin & booking fee.
- Cancellation by participant on or after the workshop commencement date results in NO refund given.
