You will learn

  • How chenille yarn is constructed using woven fabric, and techniques for cutting and securing your yarn
  • Design ideas for creating one-colour, random, or patterned chenille
  • Creative uses for your finished chenille in textured fabric projects

You will get

  • Warp yarn for rigid heddle looms (multi-shaft looms must be warped and threaded)
  • Tips and tricks for designing this unique yarn

Appropriate for

Experience with plain weaving on a rigid heddle loom is preferred, although beginners are welcome.


Preparation

What to bring

  • A rigid heddle loom preferably with a 15 dpi reed - warped and threaded multi-shaft looms also welcome
  • Assorted yarns for the weft
  • Firm cotton or cotton linen blend for the warp (some warp yarn can be provided)

Your Teacher

Jeanette is an experienced weaving teacher who currently teaches the certificate of weaving courses at the Guild. The history of weaving and loom technology occupies a large part of Jeanette's life and she loves discovering and sharing new structures and techniques.

You’re welcome to send someone in your place.
